The Role
We are looking for a BI Data Engineer to work in a multi-disciplined team, working alongside Developers, Data Scientists and DBAs. The role will allow you to develop and implement wide ranging solutions for the entire business.
The duties will include:
- Ensuring the successful delivery of all assigned Data Engineering work and their successful deployment to production.
- Participate in the requirements, analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and support of BI technology solutions.
- Conduct ETL, Data Warehouse Modelling, OLAP, processes documentation and BI solution delivery.
- Coordinate and undertake data validation between system data sets.
This role requires a person with the ability to work on their own, or as part of a larger group to deliver best in class BI tools for a dynamic company. You shouldn’t be afraid to try new solutions or technologies in order to solve a problem – we encourage people to use their initiative to solve anything that comes their way.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency in SQL coding and ability to troubleshoot scripts written by others.
- Solid understanding of ETL concepts (i.e., staging, incremental loads, data versioning etc).
- ETL programming skills, including experience with large code bases, complex data structures, and a variety of BI development tools.
- Solid understanding of modern data architectures (i.e., data warehouse, data lake, data lake-house etc.).
Nice to have:
- Experience with every step of the data engineering lifecycle (i.e., ingestion, storage, transformation, serving) with a modern data stack.
- Experience with Data Warehouse modelling/Relational modelling.
- Experience with serving data for front end BI applications, data scientists and software engineers.
- Experience with cloud solutions, particularly Azure. GCP & AWS is also a plus.
- Experience with Python for data processing and automation.
- Experience with Spark - preferably using Databricks.
- Experience using Databricks across multi-cloud environments.
Our tech stack includes (but isn’t limited to): Azure (e.g., Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, Managed Instance, Storage Accounts, DevOps, Logic Apps, Azure Functions), MS SQL Server 2017, Power-BI, SSRS.
Our data sources include S3, Athena, Oracle, Elastic, MongoDB, BigQuery, Rest API's, among others.
