Description

Ryanair are currently recruiting for a Ground Ops Bases Manager to join Europe’s Largest Airline Group.

This is an excellent time to join Ryanair Group as we look to grow to over 800 aircraft and 300m guests per year within the next 10 years. 
Reporting to the General Manager Ground Operations – Northern Europe, the successful candidate will act as the key link on all safety and operational matters between Ryanair and its partner airports and bases in the region This will require extensive travel to meet with airports and ground handling agents.
The role will be based in Vienna, but the Base Manager will be asked to support various GOPs functions in other airports across Northern Europe, including Safety Management.

Duties include but not limited to;

  • Oversight of the safety and operations functions at specific Ryanair bases and airports in the region.
  • Responsibility for all aspects of base / airports set-up and on-going compliance with approved Ryanair ground operational and administrative procedures.
  • Ensuring that infrastructural, contractual and operational requirements and performance targets are achieved in compliance with the highest standards of safety.
  • Ensuring optimum punctuality, customer service and cost-efficiency standards are met.
  • Liaising with airport authorities and ground handling agencies to ensure a safe, efficient operation is established and maintained.
  • Development and implementation of programmes to incorporate changes in corporate policy, new legislative requirements affecting ground operations and changes in traffic capacity at assigned airports.
  • Participation in AOC and User Committees.
  • Chairing of weekly meetings with key personnel at each base and issuing minutes and action points arising from these meetings.
  • Reporting of any issues pertinent to the Flight operations, Inflight, Engineering departments and providing practical assistance to those departments, as required. 
  • Visiting and approving potential new Bases and Airports in close cooperation with commercial department.
  • Invoice management and approval.
  • Contract negotiations.
  • Support General Manager in various projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in aviation management or equivalent. 
  • An approved Safety Management accreditation is an advantage.
  • Proven track record of Ground Operations expertise in managing fast growing bases and airports.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Ryanair Ground Operations Manual, is desirable
  • Proven track record of operating in a high-pressure environment.
  • Proven track record in successfully negotiating complex contracts.
  • Fluency in English required and fluency in German is highly desirable.  
  • Must be willing to travel (often at short notice) within the region.
