Description

PAM provides base maintenance services exclusively to the Ryanair Group across Europe. We are seeking a Safety Engineer to join our Shannon site. This role supports the PAM Safety Manager in ensuring compliance with EASA/UK CAA requirements and promoting a strong safety culture across the organisation. The ideal candidate may be early career or experienced, what matters most is strong analytical ability, good communication skills, and a genuine interest in aviation safety.

Key Responsibilities 

You will play a central role in maintaining and improving the Safety Management System (SMS), including: 

Safety Reporting & Investigations 

  • Manage the safety reporting system and support staff in the reporting process.
  • Conduct and follow up on occurrence investigations in line with Just Culture principles.
  • Identify hazards, support risk assessments, and track the implementation of risk mitigation actions.

Regulatory Interface 

  • Submit mandatory occurrence reports to relevant authorities (EASA/UK CAA).
  • Assist with communication on safety matters with internal and external stakeholders. 

Safety Performance & Data

  • Track Safety Performance Indicators (SPI) and Safety Performance Targets (SPT).
  • Prepare safety information and reports for Safety Review Board and Safety Action Group meetings.  

Collaboration

  • Work closely with Maintenance, Compliance Monitoring, Technical Standards and other departments to support continuous improvement and safe operations.

Essential 

  • Engineering or technically related degree or experience as an aircraft technician/maintenance engineer related degree  
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Clear and confident communication skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 
  • Good command of written and spoken English. 
  • Valid passport with unrestricted travel rights within the UK/EU and a valid driver’s licence. 

Desirable (Training Can Be Provided) 

  • Knowledge of aviation safety standards and safety investigation methods. 
  • Basic understanding of EASA/UK CAA regulations. 
  • Familiarity with Safety Management System (SMS) principles. 
  • Experience with root cause analysis. 
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques. 
  • Hold (or able to obtain) airport security clearance. 
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% within the Ryanair Group.
