Description
Prestwick Aircraft Maintenance (PAM) is subsidiary of Ryanair providing base maintenance services exclusively to Ryanair Airline group and located around the Europe. Ryanair group airlines, at the moment, operating an aircraft fleet of more than 624 modern Boeing 737-800 and 737-8200 aircraft and continue to expand within their operations including maintenance service providers activities. We are currently looking for a Safety Engineer within Shannon maintenance site (Ireland) directly answering to group Safety Manager for PAM Safety function within EASA/UK CAA regulatory requirements.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
Reporting to PAM Safety Manager and responsible for:
• Managing the safety and information security reporting scheme and the occurrence reporting system.
• Performance and follow-up actions in regard to occurrence investigations.
• Coordination and action on airworthiness occurrences, information security incidents and indicated vulnerabilities, and for initiating any necessary further investigation activity.
• Supporting communication with appropriate authorities on safety issues.
• Providing information and suggestions for improvement on safety operation to the Safety Manager and Deputy Safety Manager.
• Facilitation of various hazard identification, risk assessments and management of such within the PAM group or external forums.
• Monitoring the implementation of actions taken to mitigate risks as listed in the safety action plan unless action follow-up is addressed by the compliance monitoring function.
• Gathering and developing safety information in relation to Safety Review board or other Safety related meetings.
• Development of safety information within Safety Actions Group meetings.
• Conducting safety training to staff, control that safety trainings meets acceptable standards.
• Providing advice on safety matters to PAM Safety Manager or his/her Deputy.
• Developing recurrent training programme information coming from security incidents/issues.
• That Mandatory Occurrences are reported as appropriate to applicable Authority reporting systems.
• Recording of Organizations safety performance indicators (SPI) and safety performance targets (SPT) and indicating if associated triggers are reached.
• Safety MACRO plan items are performed and closed in time.
• Liaising with Compliance Monitoring and Technical Standards function within interface management supporting Organizations safety objectives.
• Supporting and facilitating, if necessary, hazard identification and risk assessments performing within PAM group.
• Occurrence reports are investigated in line to “Just Culture”, ensuring confidentiality rules have been applied.
• Attending Safety department meetings and preparing the reports for Safety manager.
• Ensuring the hours worked within the Safety department recording system are sufficiently recorded and correct.
• Preparing the safety data for site specific meetings.
• Development of material for safety communication channels such as HMTV, CT, monthly newsletters etc. as applicable.
Requirements
• Relevant engineering or technical degree, or an aircraft technician or other maintenance engineering related experience
• Practical experience and expertise in the application of aviation safety standards and safe operating practices
• Basic knowledge and understanding of EASA and UKCAA regulations are preferred
• Knowledge of industry Safety Management System requirements are preferred
• Knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies training including planning, conducting, and reporting are preferred
• Must possess confident and effective interpersonal communication skills when dealing with engineering staff during investigations
• Excellent communication skills
• Highly self-motivated and proactive with a willingness to take initiative
• Ability to work independently and to take responsibility
• Flexible approach to work, to match the operational requirements
• Proficient in Microsoft office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and comfortable learning new systems
• Knowledge of continuous improvement tools/techniques
• A valid passport with the unrestricted right to travel in the UK/European Union and a valid driver's license
• Very good command of written and spoken English
• Preferably a security clearance to enter the aviation security areas
• Position includes not more than 15% traveling around the Ryanair group companies upon demand
