Location: Prestwick Aircraft Maintenance, Glasgow Prestwick Airport

Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a motivated Trainee Machinist / Toolmaker to join our engineering team supporting aircraft maintenance operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in precision machining within the aviation industry. Full training will be provided for the right candidate.

Duties will include, but not limited to:

Perform a range of precision machining operations manufacture and repair aircraft components and tooling.

  • Manufacture and machine aircraft components and repair parts to exact specifications.
  • Fabricate tooling, jigs, and fixtures to support engineering and maintenance activities.
  • Produce and maintain accurate work packs and documentation in line with company procedures.
  • Interpret technical drawings and specifications to ensure high-quality workmanship.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including those set out in the Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE).
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment, following all health and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate effectively with workshop teams and supervisors to meet production and maintenance schedules.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to meet the demands of a fast-paced, evolving work environment.

Requirements

  • Strong interest in Engineering, Machining or Toolmaking.
  • AutoCAD or other CAD software desirable but not essential
  • Previous workshop, machining or engineering experience preferred
  • Basic understanding of reading and interpreting engineering and technical drawings.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Comfortable preparing work cards/work packs and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Strong communication skills with excellent spoken and written English.
  • Flexible and adaptable, with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Willing and able to work shift patterns (4 on / 4 off).
  • Committed to maintaining high standards of health, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Must have unrestricted right to work in the UK.
