The Role
We are looking for a Data Analytics Team Lead, to work in a multi-disciplined team alongside Developers, Designers and Product Owners. The role sits inside the BI team in Ryanair Labs. The BI team are made up of 100+ people split across the three Ryanair offices: Dublin, Madrid & Wroclaw. Within the BI team there is a range of different professions: Data Analysts, Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Optimization Engineers, Data Modellers, BI Analysts, BI Reporters & BI Developers.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead and mentor a team of 8 Data Analysts, driving the successful delivery of diverse short & long term projects across the business. Coach the Data Analysts, fostering an environment of continuous development and professional growth through regular feedback, mentorship, and skill-building opportunities.
- Primary Point of Contact: Serve as the primary point of contact and representative for the Data Analytics team, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration with the business on all data-driven initiatives.
- Expand Team Influence: Increase the impact and reach of the Data Analytics team throughout the organization.
- Project Management & Delivery: Oversee and balance team workload effectively. Ensure effective project management of Data Analytics initiatives, driving timely delivery, prioritization, and alignment with business objectives.
- Cross-Office Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Data Science teams across all three offices to ensure alignment and integration of analytics efforts with broader data strategies.
- Commercially-Driven Project Prioritization: Drive project creation and prioritization with a focus on commercial impact, ensuring that business value and profitability are the key factors in decision-making.
Requirements
- Education Background: Relevant Undergrad Degree in field of Data Analytics or related field, Masters/PhD preferable.
- Work Experience: 5+ years professional experience in Data Analytics positions is preferable. Industry experience preferable.
- Management Experience. Proven experience in leading and managing a team of data analysts (or similar) is essential. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, with a track record of mentoring and developing team members, setting clear goals, and providing constructive feedback. You should be adept at fostering a collaborative environment, managing performance, and resolving conflicts to drive team success and maintain high morale.
- Communication & Presentation Skills: Candidate must be a strong communicator – many projects involve people across various teams in different departments across the three offices. It is important to proactively communicate with colleagues & stakeholders on a daily basis. The role will involve regular presentations to non-technical audiences. It is important to be a confident & skilled presenter that is capable of translating complex problems & models in layman’s terms.
- Technical Experience: Experience with Python (5+ years), AWS/Databricks, and SQL (5+ years) is required. Proficient in Excel, data visualization, presentation software, data validation, and designing statistical tests also necessary.
